<![CDATA[Converging Technology ]]>Thu, 08 Mar 2012 11:23:23 GMThttp://www.conferencesystems.co.za/1/post/2012/03/converging-technology.htmlI have long wanted to have a space to talk about technology, good, bad or indifferent. Today we launch a blog that hopefully will be interesting, sometimes controversial but most importantly relevant.

It is appropriate that Converging Technology launches on the day that the New Ipad is launched, a product that epitomises this concept.( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/9129808/Apples-new-iPad-piles-pressure-on-rivals.html ) So what is converging technology. I defer to Wikipedia...

"Technological convergence is the tendency for different technological systems to evolve toward performing similar tasks. Convergence can refer to previously separate technologies such as voice (and telephony features), data (and productivity applications), and video that now share resources and interact with each other synergistically."

Lets put this into the context of our world of audio-visual and IT.

"Convergence in this instance is defined as the interlinking of computing and other information technologies, media content, and communication networks that has arisen as the result of the evolution and popularization of the Internet as well as the activities, products and services that have emerged in the digital media space."

So we will talk about Hybrid Events, Multimedia recording, Web streaming, Social media, Virtual events, mobile events applications, Conference portals, Event reach, Delegate experience, remote audience, audience response systems and so on.

We hope to interesting, sometimes controversial but most importantly relevant.

We hope you will participate sharing your views
